Principal/Guitarist/Composer;

Cascadia Groove is Gary's primary vehicle for his signature compositions.  In the past he has composed original works for the City of Seattle, U.S. Forestry Service, Vulcan Inc., Cessna Aircraft, Fairlight Inc., Spectral/Euphonix Inc., and many other corporate promotional videos, as well as compositions for live theater, T.V., and commercial radio;

Gary was a session musician in Los Angeles for many years and former member of the San Diego Symphony (violin);

Gary has been a guitarist for other successful PacNW groups such as Kalimba/the spirit of Earth Wind & Fire, and the guitarist for BroHamm - a Tribute to Motown.

Bassist:

Bailey Richard was born in Louisiana and started singing and playing alto saxophone and bass guitar in church choirs.

He developed his style of performing and recording with community bands, gospel, blues, jazz, pop, R&B, and funk groups throughout the US and overseas.

Since settling down in Western Washington, Bailey continues to perform and record with Cascadia Groove and other groups.

Bailey's addition to Cascadia Groove has substantially deepened the soul and groove to the material by locking in with the entire rhythm section and adding that extra sense of funk and rhythmic articulation that drives this music.

Tnr Sax / Lead Vocalist;:

Good things come in small packages, indeed.  With her open presentation, powerful vocals, and tenor sax work, Tracy is the “spark-plug” and front for the group. Tracy started on clarinet at 10 and is grateful to her middle school band director, Gary Marsh, who converted her to tenor saxophone.  In school, music classes took up all of her electives… jazz band before school, concert band, marching band and concert choir.  Tracy sang alto in the vocal jazz ensemble at UW, but mostly identified as a marching band girl (and always will be) GO HUSKIES!  Tracy performed with the Whatcom Sound Jazz Singers in 2008/09 and then found her first vocal frontman experience in 2014/15.  She happily still gets to be a marching band girl with the Beet Root Street Band in Bellingham, but now… for the first time… she is thrilled to combine her vocal abilities and tenor sax with Cascadia Groove - the perfect fit!

Tnr Sax, Bari Sax, Backing vocals:

Keith is a lifelong devotee of the tenor sax having been a happy band nerd since junior high school. He was a member of the first jazz orchestra formed at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1976 on the baritone sax chair and was with the band when they were invited to play at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1978 and the Sao Paolo Jazz Festival in Brazil that same year. He has spent the past forty years performing in any and every kind of pop, blues, rock, jazz and wedding combo conceivable.  Keith has been with Cascadia Groove since 2017. He also plays bari sax with The Atown Big Band since its formation in 2013.

Keyboards:

Versatile self-taught Irish pianist and composer, John Tobin, started his musical journey, heavily influenced by soul and Motown, but quickly turned his attention to jazz, blues, funk and fusion early on, at which point, his musical direction rapidly crystallized.

He began his professional musical career straight out of college in the Irish "Showband" scene, playing with numerous nationally known bands and famous artists, including Eurovision Song Contest contenders, singer Tony Kenny, and the all-girl band Sheeba.

He has worked with Irish producer, Bill Whelan (of Riverdance fame) recording the album, Hyperspace, with legendary Irish pop/rock band, Those Nervous Animals, and toured extensively with them. He has also toured with famed British pop bands with a string of top ten hits, including The Nolans, and Racey, icons of British pop.

Moving to Seattle at the turn of the millennium, John has played with many local musicians, and was the mainstay of brilliant harmonica player John Pinetree's band for four years, together with ex-Ike Turner drummer, Bill Ray. John recorded his debut solo album of jazz originals and standards, Licensed to Swing, back in 2002, with first-call musicians, bassist Phil Sparks, Buddy Catlett, and drummer, the late Larry T. Jones.

John has worked in Spain professionally, playing with a roster of famous Spanish Artists, including Eurovision winner singer, Massiel. He has played at Madrid's historic Cafe Central with renowned alto sax player Vlady Bas, and with Flamenco/jazz guitar icon, Angel Rubio, with whom he toured, recording the studio jazz album, Tribute to Chet Baker. John has played with a string of well-known Spanish jazz artists, including bassists Richie Ferrer, Lucho Aguilar, and Hector Oliveira, and late ace jazz drummer Carlos Carli. He also worked with American tenor sax genius Bob Sands. He continues to be active in the local Seattle scene, often turning up to jam sessions, and enjoying the interaction of playing with other musicians.

Musicians sometimes advertise themselves with the somewhat weak claim of playing "all styles" however, when you hear John play, you begin to realize that this puffed-up claim begins to acquire some semblance of truth.

His participation with Cascadia Groove gives the group license to explore a wider and more diverse range of material than was previously possible.

Drummer:

Andrae Weems was born in the 80’s to a family of 4 other siblings in Tacoma, Washington. His parents raised him in the church so gospel music played in his house day & night.

Growing up Andrae's influences were Chic Corea, The Yellowjackets, Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, and Steve Gadd, which eventually led him to play in clubs at the age of 13. In order to play as often as he could, he never limited himself to one genre of music. He learned anything and everything so he could stay on the kit. Further influences to his growth were Dave Mathew’s band Carter Beuford while also studying Kurt Ellington. He toured and played with gospel/R&B greats such as James Moore, Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, Katina’s, Doxology, and with Kalimba (including EWF's Sheldon Reynolds, David Keys, and other members of EWF).

Today, instead of just jazz & gospel, Andrae also performs contemporary Rock, Pop, and hip-hop, all over the world, always striving to be as versatile as possible.  Andrae has grown to become complex and versatile through his experience while taking a thoughtful approach to his drumming!
